How do I restore this panel?

Don't know what the original finish was, meaning gloss or semi-gloss it's too old scratched and beat up to know. I wet sanded and polished a section to see how it would turn out.

Can get a high gloss out of it

Not polished

Problem I see is the plastic is fairly soft so if I restore to a high shine it will show scratches easily. Plus there are all kinds of angles and corners restoring the entire panel will take many hours. Which is fine IF all the work holds up. I thought about painting semi-gloss but painting plastic comes with it's own issues.

Advice?

If you go the route of sanding it you could always put a few layers of clear coat and then wax it to protect it. It "should" last a while with a layer of wax and a few layers of clear.

Was thinking of doing a clear coat I'll have to do a small test section to see what the final sanding stage grit should be.
